christmas’ past through ornaments…
Every year at this time I open up a small box, careful to not to damage the contents inside. This little box has been with me for over 15 years, and I have loved, and a times dreaded this little box. It has some of my happiest memories, but also reminds me that sadly time marches on. From the first officially “adopted” Christmas, to the current Christmas, all is contained in this one little box. This year I have decided to take a few pictures, and share them with you.
some ‘picture’ ornaments of sandi & cayman
love the rein-dog lab from 2006
this was Sandi’s first ‘officially adopted’ ornament
of course cayman also has his first christmas ornament!
this is my dog-ornament jamboree!
the best gift of all? one built of love, and trust
I have more of these treasures that I need to photograph, but for now this will have to do! This has become a wonderful Christmas tradition for me, and one that I truly enjoy. Each year trying to find that perfect ornament that speaks of my pets personality. Perhaps laying by the fire like Sandi used to love, or wearing a Christmas sweater like the Little Red Dog! These ornaments not only help me get into the spirit of the season, but also help remind me of what Christmas is really about… love.

What memories a box of ornaments can contain! Each ornament on your tree is like a little piece of history. Plus, I love the photos of the ornaments and, of course, the one of Cayman under the tree is too cute! He’s the best gift of all!

Good Morning Grimm, and thank you for stopping by! You are absolutely right each does hold its own history, and a piece of my heart as well. It is interesting how I can look at one and be right back in that moment in time. I also love the picture of Cayman under the tree. As these pictures were being taken he reached his paw out to me over, and over, until I held his paw. Gosh, he is such a sweet little dog.

It’s very special to be able to see our Sandi. She is such an important part of our lives. As are all of our dear friends who have passed.

Thank you for your kind comment, Erin. As you know it has been as long, hard road for me to even speak of her passing. To show pictures of my beautiful girl in my postings is I suppose another step through the grieving process. I am thankful for people like yourself who loved, and remember her for how truly special she was. She will live on through our stories, and in our memories. These special companions may not be with us physically, but they surround us spiritually with the essence of who they were.
